Next Monday, April 22, marks the start of the 2nd Screening Campaign for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Adults:
- Do you have difficulty maintaining concentration?
- Do you have a family member diagnosed with ADHD? Would you describe yourself as a person with high energy, as if "always on the go"? Are you often forgetful, absent-minded, or particularly disorganized?
According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that around 2.8% of adults worldwide have ADHD. This figure may vary depending on studies and regions. The prevalence of this disorder in adults may be higher in Western countries, where more diagnoses are made and there is greater awareness of this condition.
Although ADHD is commonly associated with childhood, many adults are not diagnosed until later in life. This may be due to a lack of symptom recognition or the mistaken belief that ADHD is exclusively a childhood disorder.
Understanding what we are experiencing will help us know how to manage these difficulties in our daily lives. Through a quick screening, we can indicate whether what you are experiencing might be related to adult ADHD.
During the week of April 22 to 26, visit the URJC University Clinic. In the campus classroom buildings, there will be an information booth staffed by neuropsychology professionals who can guide you, administer a brief test, and, if you are interested, schedule a complimentary evaluation appointment where you will receive information regarding treatment options, costs, and more.
They will be available during the following hours:
- Monday, April 22: from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, April 23: from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 24: from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday, April 25: from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
