The fourth edition of the Inclusive Society Awards, organized by COCEMFE, aims to publicly recognize benchmark inclusion initiatives that promote the equal participation of people with physical and organic disabilities.
The application period opens today, October 1, through the website www.sociedadinclusiva.es
There are five award categories: educational and professional development; innovation and social impact; socio-health space; women and equality; and accessibility and independent living (Madrid, October 1, 2025)
The Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (COCEMFE) has opened nominations today for the 2026 Inclusive Society Awards, an initiative currently in its fourth edition that publicly recognizes the most transformative practices for inclusion and equal participation of people with physical and organic disabilities.
Until February 1, 2026, any individual or organization can submit a proposal through the website www.sociedadinclusiva.es, selecting one of the call's five categories:
- Educational and professional development: initiatives that foster education, employment, and training under equal conditions.
- Innovation and social impact: projects focused on participation, awareness-raising, research, associative strengthening, or the visibility of physical and organic disability.
- Socio-health space: actions that enhance coordination between social and health systems, well-being, and comprehensive care.
- Women and equality: practices that advance equal opportunities and the empowerment of women and girls with disabilities.
- Accessibility and independent living: initiatives focused on universal accessibility, inclusive leisure, design for all, and personal autonomy.
“Each edition of these awards confirms that genuine inclusion is not a utopia, but a reality that many individuals, public administrations, companies, and organizations are building day by day,” states COCEMFE President Anxo Queiruga. “At COCEMFE, we want to give them visibility and turn them into an example for the whole of society,” he added.
These awards not only highlight the best inclusive practices driven by individuals and legal entities committed to physical and organic disabilities, but they also promote their replicability, encouraging their adoption across other contexts and regions. Through the portal www.sociedadinclusiva.es, it is possible to explore in detail the finalist and winning initiatives from previous editions, making this platform a true reservoir of inspiration for social transformation.
A defining hallmark of the Inclusive Society Awards is the direct involvement of citizens across all its stages. From the identification of nominations to the selection of the winners, society has the opportunity to actively participate. Following the selection of finalists by the jury—composed of COCEMFE's Executive Committee and representatives of its Associative Movement—the public vote will ultimately decide the projects deserving final recognition, reaffirming the collective value of inclusion.
The results will be published on May 14, 2026, and a public award ceremony will take place in June.
The Inclusive Society Awards website has become a showcase for inclusive and transferable initiatives, having received 556,000 visits from more than 124,000 people since its inception.
The creation and development of the awards' website is funded through a direct grant from the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda to COCEMFE for the economic and financial support of its central structure and affiliated entities. The organization and promotion of these awards are funded through grants for activities of general interest deemed of social interest from the 0.7% tax allocation call of the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda.

The Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (COCEMFE) is a non-profit NGO established in 1980. Its mission is to achieve an inclusive society that guarantees the full exercise of rights for people with physical and organic disabilities. It coordinates, represents, and promotes the Associative Movement of people with physical and organic disabilities in Spain, comprising 94 national, regional, and provincial entities, which in turn represent more than two and a half million people with disabilities and encompass over 1,600 associations.
