The 2022 call for applications for grants to promote personal autonomy and accessibility for people with disabilities facing social hardship or vulnerability has been published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid.
The purpose of this call for applications is to regulate the awarding of grants for certain expenses incurred in 2022, as well as those incurred on or after August 17, 2021, the date on which the 2021 call for applications ended.
The deadline for submission is May 30; applications will be processed in the order in which they are received until the funding is exhausted.
The types of grants that may be requested under this Order are:
- Mobility grants for:
- Trips for training and job placement purposes, by taxi or a vehicle with a driver, hereinafter referred to as VTC.
- Purchase of electric wheelchairs, limited to electric scooters or similar technology, for individuals with limited mobility.
- Modification of motor vehicles so that they can be driven by a person with a disability.
- Removal of barriers in motor vehicles to transport a person with a disability.
- Financial assistance for the purchase of assistive devices—not covered by the national health system or public agencies—that mitigate the effects of a disability and promote personal autonomy; such devices include those that facilitate mobility, communication, or adaptation to the environment for the affected individual.
- Communication devices, personal computers, or portable electronic devices (hereinafter “tablets”) for people with disabilities who have specific communication difficulties and/or difficulties associated with a diagnosed visual and/or hearing impairment. This also includes specific difficulties related to a recognized mobility impairment.
- Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) Device.
- Hearing aids (for people 27 and older).
- Additional parts for cochlear implant maintenance (battery, cables, antennas, and/or processor repairs).
- Installation and/or work on an alarm system for the primary residence of an applicant with a hearing impairment, using a call indicator light system or light-based doorbell or intercom alerts.
- Adjustable beds (including mattress) and anti-bedsore mattresses.
- Postural aids, bathtub lifts, special shower chairs, and hoists.
- Platform lift or stairlift for one's primary residence.
- Assistive devices for people with visual impairments.
— Manual or digital magnifying glasses, with or without filters.
— Prismatic glasses or high-prescription glasses (6 diopters or higher).
— Thermometer, blood pressure monitor, or digital talking blood glucose meter.
