This call for applications is part of ONCE Foundation's commitment to the full and effective social inclusion of persons with disabilities in all areas of life, and particularly in the spheres of education, training, and employment.
ONCE Foundation is one of the Intermediate Bodies of the ESF+ Program for Social Inclusion, Child Guarantee, and the Fight Against Poverty for the 2021–2027 period. Within this framework, the ESF+ Administrative Unit, acting as the Managing Authority of the ESF+ in Spain, has delegated several responsibilities to ONCE Foundation, including the selection of operations eligible for co-financing by the European Social Fund Plus under the aforementioned Program.
Among the investment priorities of the European Social Fund Plus for the 2021–2027 programming period is the promotion of social inclusion and the fight against poverty and all forms of discrimination. This encompasses the specific objective of increasing the employment of persons with disabilities who are experiencing or at risk of social exclusion, with combined training and employment programs being one of the key measures. Specific Objective h) Fostering active inclusion with a view to promoting equal opportunities, non-discrimination, and active participation, as well as enhancing employability, in particular for disadvantaged groups.
For more than a decade, ONCE Foundation—frequently in collaboration with the European Social Fund—has been offering programs that facilitate access to higher education for persons with disabilities, thereby bridging the educational and employment gaps that individuals with disabilities continue to encounter on a daily basis. Over the past decade, the "Oportunidad al Talento" scholarship program has enabled dozens of university students with disabilities to pursue academic and research careers.
