Course “Women and Girls with Disabilities: Intersectionality and Empowerment”
This course aims to highlight how the discourses of both ableism and patriarchy influence the social standing of girls and women with disabilities, and the extent to which they pose an obstacle to fulfilling the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It will analyze the primary barriers these women encounter, while also showcasing how an increasing number of women with disabilities are championing their rights and empowering themselves to reclaim spaces that have historically been denied to them.
