Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 Queen Letizia National Disability Awards. The awards presented by the Royal Board on Disability of the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, created to recognize efforts toward inclusion and the defense of the rights of people with disabilities.
These awards, which were first announced in 2022 as the Spanish Government’s “National Award,” aim to encourage and recognize the achievements, dedication, and contributions of individuals and public and private entities in the areas ofinclusion, full citizenship, and the effective enjoyment of human rights by people with disabilities, with special attention to women and girls with disabilities, mothers and caregivers of people with disabilities, and rural communities. In short, this work is in line with the mandates set forth in the Statute of the Royal Board on Disability and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, through research, social innovation, employment, culture, health, sports, recreation, education, justice, universal accessibility, and independent living.
The categories for which entries are being accepted are:
- Research and Innovation.
- Accessibility and Universal Design in Municipalities.
- Employment inclusion.
- Inclusive culture.
- Inclusive sports.
- Human Rights.
- Inclusive Education.
- Gender equality and the elimination of violence against women and girls with disabilities.
