This gathering was created with the aim of raising awareness about a hidden reality: the gender-based violence experienced by women with disabilities. A reality that, for the first time, has been analyzed in depth in the study 'Look at the data. Visibility of a hidden reality through data: women, disability, and violence', a pioneering study promoted by Inserta Empleo, an ONCE Foundation entity for the training and employment of persons with disabilities.
This is the first statistical and qualitative analysis with such a broad sample size specifically addressing the gender-based violence experienced by women with disabilities in Spain. With a sample of over 1,600 participants, the study identifies the magnitude of the issue, its characteristics, risk factors, barriers to reporting, and the resources required for support.

In 71% of the cases, the violence occurs when the disability already exists, highlighting the vulnerability of this group.
In 27.6% of the cases, the disability is a consequence of the violence.
40.4% of women with disabilities have experienced gender-based violence, compared to 32% of all other women.

The collection of this data opens up new opportunities for the design of more effective public policies and for improving support resources.
During this seminar, in addition to presenting the main findings, we will learn about real testimonies compiled in The Voice of Courage, a publication that brings together 14 stories of women with disabilities who have survived gender-based violence. Today, we revisit the spirit of their message with new voices that shed light on their experiences and needs, generating a meaningful framework of reflection for action.
The gathering will conclude with a brief immersive experience that will enable attendees to understand, through a sensory experience, what a woman with disabilities may feel in a situation of gender-based violence.
This event is part of a common purpose: to build collective knowledge and forge strategic alliances among businesses, public administrations, and disability and women's organizations to design more effective policies, actions, and resources. The ultimate goal: enabling women with disabilities who are victims of gender-based violence to gain agency, make decisions, and fully exercise their rights.
