This project is part of the planning efforts undertaken by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE),
One of the top priorities this year has been to mitigate the impact the pandemic may have had on the students who attend this unit. To this end, they have stepped up their efforts to ensure that no person with a disability is left out of the system due to the health crisis. Along the same lines, the CRUE has developed a series of recommendations to be implemented from the outset of the COVID-19 crisis, with the goal of ensuring that remote learning does not exclude students with disabilities or special educational needs. In this regard, universities, including Rey Juan Carlos University, have established measures to guarantee equal opportunities for students with disabilities.
Crue has also played a key role in the university entrance exams (EVAU) held at the end of last school year, thanks to the work carried out by various organizations affiliated with this conference, such as the Services Network and the Working Group on Support for People with Disabilities in Universities.
In this context, it is also worth mentioning Crue’s collaboration with the ONCE Foundation to provide paid externships for college students with disabilities. These are also some of the initiatives that the Unit for the Support of People with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs promotes throughout the year, and which are being highlighted today in observance of Disability Awareness Day.
