One of the priority actions this year has been mitigating the impact that the pandemic may have caused among students supported by this Unit. To this end, their efforts have been intensified to ensure that no person with a disability is left out of the system due to the health crisis. Along the same lines, Crue developed a series of recommendations to be implemented from the onset of the unexpected COVID-19 situation, aiming to ensure that remote teaching would not exclude students with disabilities or special educational needs. In this regard, universities, including Rey Juan Carlos, have implemented measures to guarantee equal opportunities for students with disabilities.
Crue also played a fundamental role in the university entrance examinations (EVAU) at the end of the last academic year, thanks to the work carried out by various entities associated with this conference, such as the Services Network and the Working Group on Support for Persons with Disabilities in Universities.
In this context, it is also worth highlighting Crue's collaboration with the ONCE Foundation to provide paid external internships aimed at university students with disabilities. These are also among the initiatives that the Support Unit for Persons with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs promotes throughout the year, which are brought to the forefront today in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
